Cactus Jack
A cactus in the dark, blooming into a whole world.
Cactus Jack Records is an American record label and music publishing company founded by American rapper Travis Scott in March 2017. As of 2025, current acts include Scott himself, Sheck Wes, Don Toliver, Luxury Tax 50, SoFaygo and Wallie the Sensei, while former acts include Smokepurpp and Malu Trevejo. The label's artists were featured on the compilation album *JackBoys*, but they are not permanently or officially collectively known as a hip-hop group called JackBoys—that name was used for a one-time supergroup/compilation project. Lore & Background
In March 2017, Travis Scott announced he would be launching an imprint under the name of Cactus Jack Records. During an interview, Scott said, "I'm not doing it to have financial control over my music. First, I want to help other artists, launch new names, and provide opportunities. I want to do what happened to me for them, but better." In December 2017, hip-hop duo Huncho Jack, consisting of Scott and Quavo of the hip-hop trio Migos, released their debut album Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho under the label. It peaked at number three on the Billboard 200. In February 2018, the label signed Sheck Wes in a joint venture with Interscope Records and Kanye West's label, GOOD Music. On March 10, Wes announced his debut studio album titled Mudboy, which was released on October 5. On August 3, Scott released his third studio album Astroworld, containing a feature on "No Bystanders" from Wes. That same month, Don Toliver, who guest performed on "Can't Say", signed to the label. In Their Own Story
The desert wind doesn't blow so much as it exhales, long and low, dragging a fine silt across the cracked earth. Somewhere beyond the ridge, a stage is being built—black steel trusses catching the last bruised light of sunset. A cactus stands in the foreground, its spines catching a single strand of reflected LED, green-gold, almost alive. A jacket hangs on a nail in the back of a transport truck, the cactus-and-star patch catching the wind. Inside the truck, a pair of boots, a water bottle, a phone screen glowing with a track that hasn't been named yet. The sky is going from violet to black, and the first stars are appearing one by one, patient as seeds. The cactus doesn't move. It doesn't need to. It has been here longer than the stage, longer than the song, longer than the name stitched into the collar. It is simply waiting for the night to be ready, and the night, as always, is almost there.
Reader's Guide
Cactus Jack, as a lore document in the fan community, functions less like a brand and more like a recurring character in a long, collaborative novel. The 'story' is the aesthetic and narrative universe Travis Scott has assembled over years: the desert palette, the cactus-and-star iconography, the nocturnal energy, the sense of a lone figure moving through vast empty space. Fans trace this thread from early mixtapes through album cycles, fashion drops, and live shows, reading each new release as a new chapter in the same ongoing saga. The phenomenon spread organically through social media, limited-edition drops, and the sheer visual consistency of the brand. A Cactus Jack jacket at a concert becomes a photograph, becomes a meme, becomes a shared reference. The McDonald's and Nike collaborations widened the circle, pulling in people who might not have followed the music but recognized the visual language. Each collaboration is treated by fans as a 'crossover episode' in the larger narrative. Culturally, Cactus Jack occupies the space between streetwear and mythology. It is a brand, yes, but fans engage with it the way they engage with a fictional universe—debating canon, theorizing symbolism, treating each new visual as a clue. Its place in Travis Scott's broader legacy is that of the connective architecture: the thing that holds the music, the fashion, the performances, and the collaborations in a single coherent world, giving fans a stable ground to stand on while the shows and the songs keep shifting around them.
